Role Description

This position can be based remotely anywhere in the U.S. (there may be some restrictions based on legal entity). Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager.

As Executive Director, Market Access Contracting, you will lead a critical enterprise function responsible for commercial contracting strategy and execution across the U.S. healthcare ecosystem. This role provides senior leadership across Managed Care, Medicare, and Channel partners and serves as a key connector between Market Access, Finance, Legal, Pricing, Trade, and Brand teams to enable sustainable access and business performance.

  • Lead the Market Access Contracting team, providing development, direction, and oversight on a daily basis.
  • Review, approve, and sign Market Access Contracts; ensure department is SOX compliant and serve as contracting lead for periodic internal and external audits.
  • Lead the Pricing Governance Process for assigned Accounts and Segments, coordinating across the cross functional partners in Market Access, Legal, MMF, Finance, and Trade Ops.
  • Lead the annual Grant of Authority (GOA) process in collaboration with Pricing, Channel, Legal and cross-functional teams.
  • As a standing member of the Market Access Leadership team (MALT) and direct report into the Chief Market Access Officer, help define the strategic direction and core functional strategies for the US Market Access Organization.
  • Develop processes, metrics, and contracting tools to stay current with changing marketplace, with a specific focus on advancing AI capabilities within Market Access Contracting.
  • Partner with leads within Pricing, Channel, and Account Management to align on risks, opportunities, and emerging industry trends and communicate these to Managed Market Finance (MMF) Business Planning & Analysis.
  • Oversee team relationship and collaboration with MMF rebate operations team. Provide oversight to MMF rebate operations team lead, and serve as an approver of contract price determinations, disputes, and payment types related to market access contracts.
  • Manage team participation in various cross functional projects and process improvement initiatives, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution internally.
  • Collaborate with the pricing and channel strategy teams to develop and assess brand contracting strategies. Communicate consistently to share insights and segment specific expertise to inform purposeful business decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, Pharm D, Law, Health Policy, or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, with demonstrated ability to lead teams directly, indirectly, and cross functionally in a matrixed environment.
  • Thorough understanding, knowledge of and experience with US healthcare dynamics and the drivers of pharmaceutical value.
  • Understanding of legal aspects of contracts and contract interpretation as well as potential business impacts.
  • Ability to manage complex contracts and understand potential business impacts.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills including experience in recruiting, managing, training and motivating a diverse team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Requirements

  • People management and development experience highly preferred.
  • Experience in contract reviewing/writing, account measurement, and reporting preferred.

Benefits

  • The salary for this position is expected to range between $248,500 and $461,500 per year.
  • Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
