Role Description
As the Senior Director, People Business Partners for our Go-to-Market (GTM) organization, you'll be the primary strategic business partner to GitLab's Chief Revenue Officer and you will lead a team of experienced global PBPs who support the GTM executive leadership. You'll report to the VP, People Business Partners and translate business priorities into talent strategies that help GitLab scale a high-performing, values-driven revenue organization in a fully remote, async-first environment.
You’ll shape and run GTM-wide initiatives in organizational design, leadership development, and performance management. You'll also strengthen collaboration with GTM Recruiting, Sales Operations, Total Rewards, and Enablement.
- Serve as the senior people partner to GitLab's CRO and Go-to-Market (GTM) executive team, shaping and executing a global talent strategy that supports revenue growth across the GTM organization.
- Collaborate closely with GTM leaders and cross-functional partners to align people initiatives with business performance, GTM execution, retention and organizational effectiveness goals.
- Drive measurable outcomes by defining and tracking key people metrics related to sales productivity, leadership effectiveness, attrition in critical roles, time-to-productivity for new hires, and the impact of talent initiatives on GTM performance.
- Build and nurture strong, trust-based relationships with GTM executives and senior leaders, providing strategic coaching on building high-performance cultures, managing complex people situations, and developing leadership bench strength in revenue-critical roles.
- Lead large-scale organizational design, change, and transformation efforts across the GTM organization, ensuring talent strategies are tightly aligned to business objectives.
- Influence cross-functional teams to integrate people and culture considerations into GTM strategies, ensuring GitLab's values, all-remote practices, and CREDIT principles are reflected in how teams are structured, led, and developed.
- Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing team of GTM People Business Partners, fostering a culture of coaching, continuous growth, and accountability while ensuring each team member has the support and clarity needed to do their best work.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience building and leading strategic People Business Partner partnerships for Go-to-Market (GTM) organizations in enterprise technology or SaaS, including Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and related revenue functions.
- Ability to navigate and influence complex, global revenue organizations, balancing the needs of GTM leaders, Finance, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, and Executive stakeholders while adapting to a rapidly changing, high-growth environment.
- Proven leadership skills suitable for a senior director-level role, with experience managing, mentoring, and developing high-performing People Business Partner teams that support senior GTM leaders and drive consistent, scalable people practices.
- Strong understanding of revenue organization dynamics, including quota-setting, sales compensation, territory design, performance management for quota-carrying roles, and how talent decisions impact pipeline, quota attainment, and long-term customer relationships.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build trusted relationships with C-level and VP-level leaders, including the ability to provide clear, candid counsel on complex talent decisions and influence without direct authority.
- Capacity to work autonomously and asynchronously in a fully remote environment while staying aligned to shared goals, processes, and priorities across the broader GitLab People team and GTM leadership.
- Demonstrated strength in using data and workforce analytics to inform GTM talent strategy, including identifying talent gaps, assessing leadership effectiveness, and connecting people initiatives to key business and revenue outcomes.
