Role Description

The Technical Manager will provide subject matter expertise in either Maintenance, Reliability, and/or Operations for our Corrugated Box & Converting operations in the U.S. This position will report to the Continuous Improvement Manager and is remote with travel at least 75% of the time.

  • Model safe work practices and leadership characteristics consistent with Hood Container Guiding Principles (Care, Serve, Evolve, Empower, & Trust)
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise for Maintenance, Reliability, or Operational Best Practices
  • Lead data analysis to identify areas for business improvement, including equipment, processes, systems, or other elements of the business
  • Develop strategic and tactical plans to achieve measurable improvements around safety, quality, productivity, reliability, waste, and costs
  • Lead, coach, and mentor employees to utilize continuous improvement tools, such as Lean Manufacturing, statistical analysis, scientific thinking, root cause analysis, and standard work
  • Lead on-site troubleshooting and diagnostic events, partner with leadership to develop project road map and key milestones for sustainable practices
  • Communicate findings, action plans, and status updates to multiple levels of the organization (including VP of Operations)
  • Effectively engage other subject matter experts, site leaders, operators, and OEM/Vendors

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in Corrugated Industry, preferable experienced with diverse converting equipment
  • Experiencing using a process approach to make operational improvements (E.g. Speed Trials, Set Up Reductions)
  • Experience using & educating others on how to use Lean Six Sigma tools for continuous improvement is preferred
  • Proven experience in training related to best practices, processes, procedures, computer applications
  • Experience collaborating with other Subject Matter Experts
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, and to prioritize those tasks
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience preferred in auditing and corrective action planning
  • Ability to travel at least 75% of the time (U.S.)
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ability to learn software systems quickly
