Role Description

The Technical Leader for Power Island Mechanical Systems Applications will be part of a multi-discipline applications engineering team of dedicated engineers responsible for the deployment of GVH SMR plant technology across multiple US and international sites.

In this position, you will provide technical leadership for power island mechanical systems engineering activities supporting SMR site applications within a coordinated EPC project delivery framework.

  • Drive on time and on budget delivery of quality engineering technical products.
  • Identify risks, scope gaps, and execution challenges to drive mitigation strategies.
  • Lead and coordinate a small team of mechanical systems engineers.
  • Assign work based on project priorities, skillsets, and developmental goals.
  • Ensure overall project success of new site applications in mechanical systems engineering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical systems engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the nuclear industry or equivalent large scale power generation industry.

Requirements

  • Eligibility to work at the GEH Headquarters Wilmington, NC or remote.
  • Access to U.S. export-controlled information may be required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Leadership experience within an EPC project delivery model.
  • Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer registration in one or more states.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems design principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt mechanical systems designs to new codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Familiarity with mechanical codes and standards such as ASME, ANSI/ANS, etc.
  • Knowledge of diverse regulatory schemes (e.g., US NRC, CNSC, IAEA, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of earned value management principles.
  • Strong sense of engineering scope ownership.
  • Proven ability to be a liaison between organizations in separate geographic locations.
  • High performing individual with demonstrated ability to deliver results.
  • Proven interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Experience with project management skillset (communication, risk, planning/scheduling, change management).
  • EPC experience and knowledge; specifically, power plant.
  • Understanding of nuclear industry and technology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
