JOB SUMMARY
This position is eligible for remote work in one of the following states: Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin, or Wyoming. This position will require some travel for office meetings, as needed, to our corporate office in Tulsa, OK.
Job Profile Summary
The AWS Operations Administrator helps manage and maintain the company’s cloud environment on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Think of this role as the caretaker of the company’s online systems—making sure everything runs smoothly, stays secure, and performs well. This includes monitoring systems, fixing issues, organizing cloud resources, and supporting teams that rely on AWS for their work.
System Monitoring and Daily Operations
Monitor cloud systems to ensure they are healthy and performing well.
Respond to alerts and resolve issues quickly to prevent downtime.
Perform routine updates, patches, and maintenance tasks.
Stay current on AWS service deprecations and end‑of‑support versions, communicating impacts and coordinating updates with affected teams
Security and Access Control
Manage user accounts and permissions to ensure only the right people have access.
Help maintain strong security practices, including monitoring for unusual activity.
Cloud Resource Management
Manage AWS services such as servers, storage, and databases.
Adjust resources as needed to balance performance and cost.
Support backup, recovery, and disaster‑readiness processes.
Troubleshooting and Support
Investigate and resolve technical issues in the cloud environment.
Work with IT and development teams to support applications running on AWS.
Documentation and Process Improvement
Maintain clear documentation of system configurations and procedures.
Recommend improvements to increase reliability, efficiency, and security.
Required Technical Skills
Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code tools, preferably Terraform, for managing and provisioning AWS resources.
Understanding of cloud computing concepts (servers, storage, networks, databases).
Basic experience with operating systems such as Linux or Windows Server.
Familiarity with system monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch or similar).
Ability to manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings.
Knowledge of networking basics (IP addresses, firewalls, VPNs).
Experience with backup and recovery processes.
Ability to read and understand logs to troubleshoot issues.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in computer sciences or an equivalent combination of the following formal education and job-related experience. The level of knowledge needed for this position is typically obtained with ten plus years of experience in a discipline relevant to core IT architecture.
Work Experience
Significant experience and understanding of current data center technologies
Experience in the implementation, support and function of:
Infrastructure hardware configuration
IP networking
Windows Server and/or Unix operating systems
Shared storage technologies
Virtualization technologies
Event monitoring, logging and data collection techniques
Public Cloud Technologies
Proven track record of mentoring, influencing and facilitating discussions across a wide range of teams and technologies
Training and experience related to:
Operating systems software
Computer hardware
Networking
Communications
Security administration
Experience identifying, researching and analyzing core technology problems and performing root cause analysis
Experience reviewing and interpreting manuals, journals, computer display screens, computer printouts, error logs and correspondence
Experience researching, preparing and composing systems operating procedures and documentation, reports and correspondence
Experienced interacting with customers and vendors
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
