Role Description
The Senior Health & Safety Manager plays a pivotal role in advancing and continuously improving GE HealthCare’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) risk programs. This position is responsible for driving risk reduction initiatives and fostering a culture of EHS excellence across all GEHC operations.
- Lead compliance efforts in Risk Management and High-Risk Operations, supporting Health & Safety programs across GE HealthCare’s global footprint.
- Interpret and apply business, industry, and regulatory standards to key global programs such as Industrial Safety, Risk Management, Warehouse Safety, and Powered Mobile Equipment.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate Health & Safety risks across diverse operational environments.
- Promote continuous improvement by sharing best practices and lessons learned to elevate global EHS standards and performance.
- Analyze safety metrics and trends to evaluate program effectiveness and guide strategic decision-making.
- Champion excellence in GE HealthCare EHS programs, including Framework 2.0 and Human & Organizational Performance (HOP).
- Manage multiple initiatives concurrently while delivering high-quality support and service to internal stakeholders.
- Serve as a thought leader and integral member of the Health & Safety Program team, contributing to strategic direction and innovation.
- Collaborate with Global Health & Safety and Governance teams to develop proactive risk-reduction strategies.
- Stay informed on regional EHS regulations and GE HealthCare-specific program requirements relevant to assigned responsibilities.
- Mentor and coach EHS professionals to strengthen talent pipelines and build organizational capability.
- Partner with the EHS training team as a subject matter expert to ensure technical and regulatory competency across EHS and operational teams.
- Support additional EHS initiatives and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college, university or equivalent in Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience leading Health & Safety program implementation in a global context, with a focus on manufacturing environments and distributed workforce operations.
Requirements
- Ability to travel 30% of the time.
- Deep knowledge of GE HealthCare's EHS programs and systems.
- Extensive experience working with industry EHS organizations.
- Strong understanding of legal requirements associated with EHS issues.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, motivate and lead teams, drive change, and interact cross functionally.
- Related EHS expertise outside of primary responsibility, i.e. LOTO, Electrical, MOC, Risk Assessment, Emergency Preparedness, other.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with internal and external customers, and all levels of the organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to facilitate and conduct presentations with large and small groups at all levels of the organization.
