Role Description
This role involves leading government accounting operations and ensuring regulatory excellence across all government-funded programs and contracts.
- Provide exceptional accounting and operational service to clients.
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of professional accounting and bookkeeping practices.
- Oversee accounting for government contracts, grants, and funding streams.
- Lead client transitions for Quickbooks to Deltek.
- Ensure compliance with FAR, CAS, GAAP, and Uniform Guidance requirements.
- Manage indirect rate structures, cost allocations, and revenue recognition.
- Oversee billing, contract reporting, and closeout processes.
- Maintain accurate financial records and review key accounting activities.
- Strengthen and maintain internal control frameworks.
- Lead preparation for DCAA and Single Audit engagements.
- Develop and refine policies and procedures to support compliance excellence.
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in technologies to deliver outstanding quality service.
- Oversee client onboarding process for all assigned client engagements.
- Implement technology toolbox on all client engagements to drive efficiency and client value.
- Serve as a resource to team members for guidance on client tasks and resolution of client issues.
- Monitor team member performance and provide coaching and feedback as needed.
- Build trusted advisor relationships with client executives.
- Support clients’ evolving requirements by educating executives on Supporting Strategies’ expertise.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- 10 years of related accounting experience with 4 years of hands-on management experience.
- Capacity and commitment to work full-time (32-40 hours a week) during traditional daytime business hours.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
- 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including government contract accounting.
- Strong working knowledge of FAR, CAS, GAAP, and Uniform Guidance.
- Experience supporting government audits (DCAA experience highly valued).
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (Costpoint experience a plus).
- A proactive mindset with strong analytical and leadership capabilities.
- Proven ability to attract, build and retain a high-performance team.
- Experience in developing strong remote team relationships based on trust and accountability.
- Commitment to consistently follow established Supporting Strategies policies and procedures.
- Confidence in learning and embracing new technology including QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.
