Job Description

• Develop a foundational understanding of Business Wire’s newsroom operations and the role of press releases as a relevant communications tool, including their impact on media coverage, search visibility, regulatory compliance, and investor communications. • Gain insights into the services Business Wire provides connecting audiences with organizations. • Observe and participate in newsroom meetings and discussions to understand operational priorities, service levels, and production timelines. • Support editorial teams in content review procedures including document formatting, quality control checks, and adherence to company guidelines. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Marketing, Media Relations, Sales and Technology to understand how newsroom operations integrate with customer-facing and platform teams. • Contribute to data collection and analysis of newsroom performance metrics, including volume trends and provide a new perspective on operational efficiencies. • Help prepare basic reports and summaries using provided direction from mentors. • Complete an assigned research project focused on an operational, editorial, or strategic topic, culminating in a presentation of findings and recommendations to newsroom leadership.

Job Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, with stellar time-management skills (ability to effectively prioritize new and ongoing projects).
  • Courteous, professional, and effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent collaboration and organizational skills, excelling at both high-level thinking and execution.
  • Basic technical skills and computer literacy, including proficiency in standard business applications (i.e., MS Word and Excel; Web, etc.).
  • Must be flexible with schedule, as needed.
