POSITION TITLE: SENIOR ASSOCIATE, PUBLIC AFFAIRS AND SOCIAL MEDIA

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Work congruently with the Public Affairs Manager to develop and implement Government Affairs Office’s (GAO) overall social media strategy and provide tactical support with the distribution of public affairs content and other projects as directed. He/she will provide external communications distribution support to the Lotus Division’s work to improve home health care delivery and policies and will develop and maintain the division’s brands and ensure communications are consistent and clear to external audiences. Engage online and with social media audiences daily and help maintain relationships with key influencers. Support GAO and Public Affairs with a wide variety of tasks, including daily social media engagement (Facebook/Twitter/etc.), planning, and analysis. Collaborate consistently with Grassroots Advocacy to assist in the development of an overall GAO web presence plan for our Ambassadors. Perform social media engagement activities (crafting, posting and tracking posts across various social media platforms) as directed in support of GAO policy goals and branding. He/she will also work with the public affairs firm(s) to integrate the communication efforts of GAO and the external audiences.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four (4) year college degree.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years verifiable experience in health care or related field, preferably in health care policy, advocacy, or communications/social media.
  • Demonstrates record of excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Reliable, responsible, and accurate with an attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates record of strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Demonstrates record of exceptional organizational, teamwork, and time management skills.
  • Deep knowledge of the latest trends in social media and marketing.
  • Ability to be nimble and thrive in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Creative and willing to express new ideas.
  • Flexibility to work on a variety of assignments.
  • Experience & familiarity with leading social media platforms and analysis programs, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Hootsuite, etc.
  • Working knowledge of and interest in politics, public affairs, and social media utilizing best practices and innovative techniques.
  • Proficient in basic business software applications required to perform job functions.
  • Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills, good judgment, leadership, and values continued learning.
  • Demonstrates creativity in meeting GAO challenges and completing assigned projects.
  • Ability to travel and work independently.
  • Understands and connects with the BAYADA Home Health Care culture.
  • Acceptable pre-employment assessment results
  • Competence in basic PC skills required to perform job functions and willingness to learn additional software relative to government relations support.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In conjunction with Grassroots Advocacy, Public Affairs, and communications firm on retainer: assists in the development of overall social media plan to advance GAO’s brand and broaden awareness of its programs and priorities.
  • Oversees and manages social media feeds and develops compelling content to expand online awareness and GAO-wide initiatives.
  • Identifies social media trends and incorporates them into H4HC posts on social media sites.
  • Organizes and maintains an editorial calendar for GAO, with posts drafted and scheduled for future publication.
  • Listens to social media audiences, engages with Ambassadors, finds new users, and reply to comments and messages.
  • Develops and distributes external media pieces that will highlight GAO’s mission and goals; Coordinates with state directors’ response to social media campaigns for expert comments in conjunction with external firms.
  • Monitors and tracks performance of posts: prepares reports, performs analysis (including preparing and documenting actionable insights and return on investment) and shares data as directed.
  • Stays up to date with latest social media best practices and technologies.
  • Collaborates with the COM and DIG to ensure brand consistency across social media and marketing materials/platforms.
  • Develops overall strategy with public affairs social media firm to distribute media pieces in key GAO areas in conjunction with state directors’ and GAO’s legislative goals.
  • Updates spreadsheets and maintains regular updates on social campaigns at team meetings.
  • Performs related duties, or as required or requested by Supervisor.
  • Builds and distributes integrated communications strategies across external audiences to amplify Lotus’s goals and values with a focus on persuasive and engaging content and messaging.
  • Stays up to date with industry and media trends and developments to recommend new approaches to draw audiences’ attention and deliver more creative, efficient, and effective work.
  • Works with Public Affairs to track and monitor industry news to identify opportunities for response to, and promotion of, existing news, research, and programs.
