Role Description

The Junior Mortgage Loan Processor supports the mortgage loan process by initiating and managing first mortgage loan files originated by Mortgage Loan Officers. The Jr Processor acts as an assistant to the Senior Mortgage Processor, ensuring timely and accurate processing of loan documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Loan Processing & Documentation
    • Initiates mortgage loan files and ensures timely opening with required timeframes.
    • Orders and verifies essential third-party documentation including credit reports, insurance, appraisals, CAIVRS, condominium and PUD documents, 4506 transcripts, and employment, rental, or deposit verifications.
    • Requests government case number and appraiser assignments.
    • Validates data entered into the Loan Origination System (LOS) and Automated Underwriting System (AUS).
    • Assists in opening memberships when necessary.
    • Maintains and updates the Government Disbarred and Eligibility List for all parties involved in transactions.
    • Supports the Senior Mortgage Processor in updating realtors, builders, and loan officers on file status.
    • Manages an active pipeline of 20-35 loans per month.
  • Operational Support & Communication
    • Coordinates payment of mortgage-related bills such as appraisals and credit reports, forwarding them for approval to the appropriate manager.
    • Maintains electronic communication including email and voicemail, and distributes appraisals, title commitments, insurance documents, and online applications.
    • Provides backup support to the Secondary Market Specialist by processing rate locks on investor loans, monitoring expiration, issuing daily rates, and updating rate information on the website.
    • Maintains current knowledge of all credit union services.
  • Organizational Engagement
    • Represents the credit union with professionalism and courtesy in all interactions.
    • Upholds the highest ethical standards in all interactions and responsibilities.
    • Supports leadership initiatives that position the credit union as a top employer.
    • Takes initiative to perform other essential functions as needed to support the team.
    • Travel may be required on occasion.
    • Attends required meetings and training sessions, including annual or mandated training for BSA and the Privacy Act.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • 1+ years’ Data Entry experience.
  • 1+ years’ Customer Service experience.
  • Loan processing or banking experience preferred.

  • Data entry skills.
  • Microsoft Skills: Outlook email and calendars, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent oral, verbal and writing business communication skills with correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Demonstrate reasoning ability, data collection, establish facts and draw conclusions.
  • Listening, observation and analytical skills.
  • FHA/VA experience is desired.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle stress.
  • Demonstrate professional maturity.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, organize, and meet deadlines.
