Role Description

This position will be responsible for managing the Art Leads. This role is a combination of technical knowledge and people skills. By working side by side with the Art Director, this position will fundamentally support the entirety of the artists through management of the leadership.

  • Assist in the growth of our leadership team
  • Oversee day to day needs
  • Be a point of contact for RFI/RFPs
  • Communicate any needs or issues vertically
  • Create and oversee new initiatives to help level up our art team as a whole

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish quality standards for Kokku's art teams
  • Review and approve visual materials on bids by working with Art Directors before they go to our partners
  • Maintain a positive and optimistic attitude as a key manager within the company
  • Praise publicly, critique privately
  • Work with Head of Delivery to handle complaints or issues that can improve the team
  • Act as a problem solver, constantly looking for ways to help the team
  • Work with Marketing and BD to showcase our work, both internally and externally
  • Ensure internal portfolio projects grow in diversity and quality
  • Stay updated with the latest trends in art styles, gaming technology, and tools
  • Implement innovative strategies and tools to enhance visual quality and efficiency in production
  • Drive production excellence initiatives, working closely with all producers, project managers, and art production services
  • Understand project budgets, resources, and scheduling as a priority
  • Be the point of contact for Art on RFI/RFPs
  • Help allocate resources to ensure competitive but feasible bids
  • Work with the Art Director to provide additional art where necessary to successfully win contracts
  • Participate in client calls to defend the estimates provided if needed
  • Oversee the growth, development, and career paths for the Art Leads
  • Guide each Art Lead with an individualized plan, objectives, and timelines
  • Identify courses, tools, or tutorials that can help the Leads or the entire Art Team improve
  • Create video guides and tutorials to help with onboarding and overall team growth
  • Regularly gather production data and project information
  • Communicate this information using various channels (Confluence, Teams, Emails)
  • Create a regular cadence for reporting on the wins, losses, and improvement plans for each team
  • Work with the Art Leads on these reports
  • Coordinate the Art department's hiring plan
  • Support hiring and recruitment choices with the recruiting and producers/production teams
  • Support Head of Delivery in defining the vision and strategy for creating tools to support our Art Department
