Role Description

The UPS Store (TUPSS) Instructional Design Specialist supports the knowledge and skill development training programs and materials for The UPS Store franchise network through the design and application of instructional design methods.

  • Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), managers, vendors, and various cross-functional teams to understand aspects of policies, procedures, systems, and skills that require instruction.
  • Recommend appropriate training solutions that align with project and company objectives.
  • Manage and coordinate the design, development, and implementation of various instructor-led training (ILT) programs.
  • Develop additional resources applicable to business unit needs and best practices.
  • Upload new training elements into the Learning Management System (LMS) for the franchise network.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide instructional expertise and recommendations to support trainers and SMEs in the creation and implementation of training programs and materials.
  • Coordinate with the SME and project manager throughout course development.
  • Develop programs and course curricula for the Franchisee and Center Manager corporate training programs.
  • Conduct Train-the-Trainer sessions to ensure trainer readiness before facilitation of new curricula.
  • Assess the effectiveness of training programs and make data-driven improvements.
  • Produce instructional materials for various instructional delivery methods.
  • Gather data on training needs and learning interventions.
  • Write course content and incorporate relevant graphics.
  • Collect content for development of training materials to ensure alignment with training strategies.
  • Review procedures and guidelines for training programs and learning interventions.
  • Identify the most recent innovations in online learning technology.
  • Collaborate with internal clients, SMEs, and project managers.
  • Design evaluation tools necessary for measuring training effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Instructional Design, Business Administration, Training and Development, Project Management, English, Graphic Design, or related discipline.
  • Experience in an adult learning or training environment.
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Experience using Adobe Suites, Rise 360, Articulate, and/or Storyline.

Requirements

  • Experience demonstrating proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Basic knowledge of visual design principles and the ability to create visually appealing and engaging learning materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with stakeholders, developing instructional content, and providing feedback.
  • Experience developing corporate training materials and instructor-led course curricula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience demonstrating proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Instructional Design, Business Administration, Training and Development, Project Management, English, Web Design, Graphic Design, or related discipline.
  • Experience in an adult learning or training environment.
  • Experience using Adobe Suites, Rise 360, Articulate, and/or Storyline.
